Keeping Our Children Safe

Health & Safety

We have a designated Health & Safety officer – Katy Taylor, who is also our Fire Marshall- she oversees all of the risk assessment and safety issues in the setting.  She works closely with the team to ensure new equipment is used carefully and that all policies and procedures are current and relevant. We are diligent in ensuring parents are informed of infections and ways of avoiding them. We have robust procedures for administering medicines and if specialist knowledge is needed, for example using an Epi Pen, all staff undergo the training.

All staff are first aid trained.

Child Protection

We have a designated Safeguarding Children officer – Katy Taylor who has undergone a thorough two day training course to learn about the signs of abuse and the procedures to follow.  This information is shared with staff and reviewed termly at staff meetings. Our safeguarding policy follows the model required by Devon County Council and includes the procedure to follow in making a referral to the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) The Policy can be found on our policies page. There is also a booklet produced by the UK Government called “What to do if you Think a Child is Being Abused”, which is available from Government websites.
